Private lessons are 30-minute lessons, individually styled to meet the needs of each student. Every student receives his or her own personalized recital music, as well as a hand-picked selection of method books designed to meet that student's own unique requirements.

Some of the method books Mrs. Oddo chooses from are:

Burnam - A Dozen A Day, Step By Step

Every student receives a personalized notebook designed by Mrs. Oddo. At each lesson, students are given a "Weekly Lesson Guide" to guide them through their week of practice.

Students' assignments include a well-rounded practice time of scales and chords, sight-reading, technique, theory, review of "old" recital pieces, as well as assigned pages from their method books. At the bottom of the assignment sheet is the student's weekly practice time chart. The minimum required practicing times are as follows:

Certain students, according to their current repertiore and personal goals, will be required to practice more. These times are only minimum guidelines.

In the weeks when they achieve the goal of 30, 45, or 60 min a day for 6 days, the student is rewarded by choosing a "treasure" from the Treasure Box. This box is stocked every week with anything from mechanical pencils, to stickers, to candy, etc. If a student achieves their practice goal for an entire month, they are rewarded with their picture on "The Practice Club" bulletin board. To become a member of this club, students must have completed their practice requirements each week for an entire month. Pictures remain on the board for one month.
